Sometimes technology brings you features that you never even imagined you needed. Such is the feature Logitech Flow. When I first heard about Logitech Flow, I was like, “No. You must be lying. How is it even possible?” The more I used it, the more I realised how superb this feature is and it makes your workflow so much faster if you are using multiple computers.
In short, Logitech Flow is the feature that allows Logitech’s Flow enabled mouse and keyboards to move across one device to other effortlessly. Generally people have to use different sets of mouse and keyboards while working with different computers together. With Logitech Flow you can just bring the cursor to the edge of the screen and drag it to jump to the next device. For detailed explanation and setup guide, keep reading.
The Limitations :
With modern technology more and more people are preferring wireless keyboards and mouse over the wired ones simply because of ease of use and freedom from bunch of wires. Although the scenario wasn’t the same even just a few years back. The mouse and keyboards used to be laggy. I never imagined myself buying a wireless mouse or keyboard because of the battery. I was afraid it might run out in the middle of an important assignment. With the advent of technology these problems has greatly diminished. I also finally made the jump via Logitech MX Master 3 and has never looked back ever since.
The wireless systems open a world of possibilities for the people that use multiple computers in their work. You can use the same mouse and keyboard across all the devices. But still you have to press a button or change the connection in some ways or do the pairing every time you switch devices, partly because well, they are DIFFERENT DEVICES, aren’t they? And no one seemed to mind this at all. After all, this is already a very big update from their wired counterparts. You can use same keyboard and mouse with all your devices without the need to buy separate ones for them all. What more could you ask for? Nothing right? Until and unless you use Logitech Flow.
What is Logitech Flow?
Logitech flow is the new technology developed by logitech that makes switching devices while using a mouse the same as going into another screen connected to the same computer. Yes, you heard it right, it’s just the same procedure. You drag your cursor to the edge of the screen and then drag some more. Voila, you are into the screen of another device. I know it’s unbelievable but it’s just that crazy. When you have flow enabled you can go into a device from another just this way. No button pressing, no pairing, just drag. As simple as that. Not only that, you can copy stuff in one device and go paste in other. They work just like connected devices. The File sharing is also encrypted and don’t need to connect to the internet to make it work.
How to enable Logitech Flow?
Logitech has made it very easy to set up its flow enabled mouse and keyboards with the Flow function. The Logi Options+ software comes with a dedicated ‘Flow’ option in it. From there it’s very easy to set up the devices. At any time you can set up upto 3 devices with any mouse or keyboard. Some have the misconception that the Flow function can not be set up with the keyboards but that doesn’t appear to be case in fact. The keyboard follows the mouse. Whenever you jump into another device with the mouses, the keyboard automatically gets connected to that one.
Productivity boost with Logitech Flow
Logitech MX series of mouse and keyboards are designed to be productivity powerhouses. With the Flow feature that becomes even better. Those people that need to use more than one devices now have a way that cuts their device switching time by 80%. But that’s not the best part. The best part is how effortlessly it is done. While working, you can easily move around the screens as if those are the same device. It keeps away distractions and keeps you concentrated in your task. Moving around your files is flawless too.
